I don't paint what I see, I paint what's left after looking...

I was born in the city of Treinta y Tres on August 29, 1961. Son of a commercial laboratory representative and a professor at the University of Labor of Uruguay, I had very little artistic training within my home. I took my first steps in drawing in the museum of the city where I was born, surrounded by works by Uruguayan and foreign artists. Among them, I was always especially impressed by the works of Carla Witte, although at that time I could understand little of her artistic depth, since she was only eleven years old. The years passed between watercolors and temperas, and very little I kept from those first attempts. In 1981 I entered the Pedro Figari School of Art, where I began my training in Graphic Design. Getting to painting was a natural process. I had become accustomed to experimenting, investigating and trying different techniques in search of new sensations, effects and forms of expression. The rest is simply part of the story. While developing my professional activity as a graphic designer, I never abandoned the brushes. I always found some time to dedicate it to that passion that accompanied me since childhood: painting. Until the day came when I decided to show my work beyond my professional work as a designer. That's how, from 2011, I began to dedicate myself to painting with greater intensity. In 2014 I held my first exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura de Minas, and in 2016 I presented a new exhibition consisting of a series of murals painted on large-format canvases. Throughout these years I have experimented with various styles and pictorial techniques, without imposing limits on myself in terms of colors, dimensions or formats. My artistic quest has been characterized by creative freedom and constant exploration, understanding each work as an opportunity to discover new paths of expression. Main techniques developed: oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed techniques, spatula and experimentation on various supports
